| Development of BratislavaArcheological findings are the proof of the area's settlement from the Celtic Age through the Roman Age and Slavonic settlement.The city observed development particularly in Middle Ages, between the years 1563-1830 Bratislava became a coronation metropolis of Ugria (11 Ugrian kings and 8 royal wives). In the course of the centuries many excellent artists, sculptors (G. R. Donner), painters (D. A. Fossati, Daniel Gran) and musicians (Mozart, Beethoven) worked there.. In the 20th century it became a central-european, cultural, social and economic metropolis and from the beginning of the year 1993 it has been the capital of the Slovak Republic.
