Cycling in protected scenic territory /PST/

Following the viewpoint of the specialistic organisation ŠOP SR PST Malé Karpaty we provide the following information:

PST Malé Karpaty, PST Záhorie and PST Dunajské luhy are protected areas, on which predominates the second degree of nature protection and countries with conditions specified in § 13 of the law number 543/2002 from the Collection of Laws about nature and country protection (further only "law"). In a small number there are parts of the area with the third, fourth and fifth degree of protection.

According to paragraph 1 a letter b) of the quoted paragraph of the law is on the area with the 2nd degree of protection (protected scenic territory) forbidden to entry and stand with a bicycle on the lands behind the frontiers of built-up area of a village except highway, road, village road, specific road and marked cycling route. From the stated it is clear that in the area of Bratislava forest park it is allowed to use for cyclotourism forest roads (with a gum surface), but not carting roads, which don't have a reinforced surface and they are only for the access to forest crop for the purpose of forest maintenance.

According to § 14 paragraph 1 a letter b) of the law is on the area with 3rd-5th degree of protection (small-scale protected areas and their protected zones) forbidden to entry and stand with a bicycle on the lands behind the frontiers of built-up area of a village except highway, road, village road and marked cycling route. It means that this restriction applies also to specific roads, as long they were not by the decision of authority for nature protection (district authority) approved as cycling routes.
